L Pod Spirit Orca Lisa Newell, who is legally blind, swam her heart out at Thetis Lake Friday evening, June 25. Lisa started swimming less than a year ago and has been working hard toward her 1 kilometre goal.
Lisa trained with and was coached by Spirit Orca Meliah Motchman who lives with Down syndrome.
The swim took Lisa just under 45 minutes.
Both are participating in Swimming with Spirit Orcas, a program funded by Community Living BC.
